How is the GO-GO scene in Japan recently?
Hideyuki GO-GO was hot in Japan back in the 80's to early 90's. Chuck Brown, Trouble Funk and many more GO-GO bands on TTED were so popular back in the days. They toured in Japan several times, and used to release cds constantly. They were doing pretty good in Japan . But in the early 90's, they all disappeared and since then, it became harder to get GO-GO products and information.
Tsuyoshi There is still GO-GO fans out there. They are still listening to old time cd and records, but for these days in general, nobody is paying attention to GO-GO anymore. It seems like people already forgot the existance of GO-GO, especially youngsters don't even know what's GO-GO.
Hideyuki Right, but thru the activities of Groove Planet, we discovered that when they hear it they still love it. Even some of audiences are not recognizing this music called GO-GO. we've seen every single youngster were dancing to the GO-GO rhythm. they went crazy to it!
Tsuyoshi Right, that's what a good thing is. Youngsters who don't know 80's went crazy to GO-GO rhythm and started to have interested in GO-GO and that's really exciting.
Hideyuki yeah, we know they love it. only thing they missing is information. cause there is no GO-GO information at all. nothing. even in Tower records, HMV and other major records store, no cd, no dvd, no advertizement, nothing. so how can they find it? One time, I was looking for Chuck's "Put your hands up!" in Tokyo but I couldn't find it so I've ordered it to "amazon.com".
Tsuyoshi Hip-Hop and R&B has been very popular in Japan for a while already. its so obvious that they love dance music so much. and I know a lot of them are interested in funk music too. But again no information -- period.
Hideyuki That's right, there is a lot of potential here in Japan . The people - they want it. I can feel it. so I think its our responsibility to provide them with the right music and right information
Tsuyoshi Now, Groove Planet joined TTED and is now working on first release with a big name in go-go. The revival of GO-GO in Japan is in real soon.
Hideyuki

Right, and TTED finally got their new website so, a lots of information can be dispatched from the "Capital of GO-GO".

Tsuyoshi From the Capital of GO-GO!
